Ranked 8th in his class overall at graduation. Following graduation from Academy, assigned as helm officer on U.S.S. Pegasus under Captain Erik Pressman. In 2358, the ship disappeard mysteriously, with Riker and Pressman the only survivors. Details of the incident were surpressed at the time, but as of 2370, it was revealed that Pressman had been illegally testing a cloaking device, and the ship had been destroyed during a crew mutiny where Riker had fought to defend his captain. In 2359, Riker was stationed on planet Betazed as attache to Federation diplomatic office. Riker posted to the U.S.S. Potemkin in 2361. Led rescue mission to planet Nervala IV, promoted to lieutenant commander, commended for ΓÇ£exceptional valor.ΓÇ¥ Unknown to him until years later, an exact duplicate of him had been created on shipΓÇÖs surface by transporter malfunction (See Riker, Thomas). Riker later p romoted to executive officer aboard U.S.S. Hood (NCC-42296), under Captain Robert DeSoto. In 2364, Riker refused an offer to command U.S.S. Drake to become executive officer of U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D under Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Served with distinction during its historic 7 years in service. In 2365, Riker served a temporary stint as first officer aboard the Klingon ship Pagh in an officer exchange program, becoming first Federation Starfleet officer to serve aboard a Klingon vessel. Riker declined offer of command of the U.S.S. Aries in 2365. He declined offer of command of the U.S.S. Melbourne during the Borg incursion of 2366. Granted a temporary field promotion to captain, and given command of the Enterprise-D following the capture of Captain Picard by the Borg. Under RikerΓÇÖs command, Picard was rescued and the Borg defeated. In 2370, Riker and Captain Picard infiltrated a mercenary group assisting a Vulcan isolationist faction in finding an ancient Vulcan weapon. Riker and Picard were able to retrieve the weapon and apprehend the Vulcan woman masterminding the operation. After the destruction of the Enterprise-D on Veridian III in 2371, Riker was assigned as first officer of the sixth Enterprise, 2372. In 2373, while traveling into EarthΓÇÖs past (the year 2063) to stop Borg incusion, Riker accompanied Zefram Cochrane on his historic first warp flight.
